With technologies like KI, language assistants, automotive cars, etc designer are challenged with problems classical design methods can’t solve. As an example the classical model and prototype can’t represent the spectrum of interaction an autonomous thing can serve so the designer is unable to make precise decisions on the interaction. Within this work the concepts « Animism » and « Mimesis » were researched and implemented in several workshop formats.
This workshop was used as a reference. The participants got a topic they should work with and developing a product which should be represented as a model. The participants were free to work however they wanted, so they got not methodical input and were deciding on their own if they wanted to work alone or in groups.
The result was a paper model of a transformable bin.
Within this workshop the methods of the object theatre workshop was tested to create models of interactive objects. The workshop is inviting the participant to take the perspective of an object to create new ideas.
One of the results of this workshop was a flying book, which needed the attention of its owner and would fly towards it until the owner reads it.
Some games which are used in improvisation theatre were tested within this workshop, which could be used for the ideation of an object. But during the execution of this workshop we frankly undererstimated the difficulty of improvisation which led to a quite chaotic workshop. (‹ Chapeau! › to every improvisation actor!)
